My Happy Place

The crazy madness that is going on in the world, particularly here in the US, is often too much to contend with so I escape to my studio and lose myself in my art.  This week I spent a good amount of time in there and felt the need to do a peaceful and serene landscape. The painting above is one of the results.  It’s entitled “Calm Waters” and is 10×30 with an impressionist feel.  No turmoil or tension in this one.  What do you do when you need to find that “happy place”?

The painting was very loosely based on this shot I took while we were on vacation in Gualala, CA this past Christmas week.

I think this close up of the new painting would be a good start for another one, maybe a small 6×6.

Another close up photo.  I like to use unexpected colors in landscapes.

A beautiful and serene work! Like you, it’s good to “run away” to my art when the world gets too crazy. My 3 fur babies are also a good escape for me 🙂 Thanks for sharing your gift with us.
