Blog

I’ve been having lots of problems with my computer and website lately. It looks like the header and menu will have to be rebuilt on the site but I am very grateful that the rest of it is up. It was completely lost for awhile. I apologize for being a week late in posting this blog.

In the meantime, in order to keep my sanity I have been focusing on more colorful landscapes. The subject of todays post is one of those happy cheerful landscapes and is called, “Among The Trees”, 18×48. I consider it modern impressionism and it’s based on a photo I took while on a trip that included the Czech Republic. A side trip to Sychrov Castle was on the itinerary. This trip was many years ago and I remember touring the castle (more of a manor home) and the grounds but don’t remember the history other than it was built in the late 19th century. It was an overcast day so the inspiration photo reflects that, and you can see that I have taken a lot of liberties but the form is pretty much there. I’ve included a detail photo and one of the painting in place. So I think my message for you is to not think about the reality of the subject but let your imagination run free. I’m having a great time experimenting with the color and bit of realism.
