Four years ago my friend and I went on a cruise of the Adriatic Sea. I had always wanted to see that part of the world and the Balkans did not disappoint. We started in Slovenia then to Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia/Herzegovina. Because of my schedule we have to travel at odd times of the year so we went in late January/Feb. I know, what were we thinking?! Freezing temperatures, snow, rain. All kinds of weather was possible but we were very fortunate in that it wasn’t any of those things. Well, maybe freezing temperatures here and there. The further south we traveled the better the weather. Because of the time of year there were very few tourists which was great for us.
Croatia and it’s many islands stands out as my very favorite. One of the highlights was a day we spent at Krka Falls. It was my idea of heaven. Boardwalks meander throughout the park where you walk over the water, by the pools, and through the trees. Water falls are everywhere, big and small. There were 24 of us that day on the excursion and we were the only people in the park. I tend to hang back to take pictures, for myself and for possible ideas for paintings so the solitude and the beauty around me was exhilarating. It was a fabulous trip!
The photo on the left reminds me a bit like what I painted a year before.
Here is my painting, “Watercolors” in place.
To give you a flavor of the park here are a few other photos. Maybe a possible painting or two?
Sounds like Perfect timing, to me. I love your painting of the water.
Thanks, Valeri, It was a very special trip!
just beautiful!
Thanks very much, Debbie. I appreciate you stopping by.
