Vision Of Art

Starting a painting – facing an empty canvas can sometimes be daunting.  I usually start with a concept and a palette in mind but that quickly changes. Often I get it going with a line here or there and keep adding color.  If it doesn’t look right, I either paint over it or keep adding color and layers. It’s not just the addition of paint for me but the subtraction too.  There are over 10 layers on each of my canvases.  I let each dry so when I go back and add the next layer whether its thick or thin paint, I can scrape, scratch or move the paint around revealing what is underneath.

I can’t explain what or why I do something.  I think it must be my inner voice whispering to me.  Instinct and spontaneity are the name of the game for me.  I love to see where each painting lands.

“Radiant” is one of my YouTube videos and illustrates the many layers and choices I made to finish this piece.
