I don’t like to waste paint so if I have some left over it usually goes on to a blank canvas to be dealt with at a later time. This week lots of bright colors became the under layer for a 40×40 canvas. I like the color but decided to soften them with a layer of white using a brayer. It leaves an interesting texture and some of the other colors can be left to come through to create a new look. This is the beginning of the painting. I have since added some washes of color but still dinking around with it. It still has a ways to go before I’m happy with it.
To apply the paint with a brayer, I like to add the color onto a hand held palette so I can dip into it without risk of getting it into another color that would be on my bigger palette. I tend to be pretty messy so that is always a possibility. There are two quick videos attached ( the IMG files below the photo) so you can get the general idea of how I apply the paint.
