Some years ago I was challenged by a designer with whom I was working to do some landscapes. He was interested in neutral soft colors which was a stretch for me since I do love color. I had to rewire my brain and think about how to make this happen. It was a good test for me to work not only doing something recognizable but in monochromatic hues. It worked out pretty well. He was happy and it opened a new area for me to explore. I still do that palette but can’t stay completely away from the color, as you an see from the image above. This piece has an impressionist spirit to it and is entitled “Speak Quietly” because I felt the color and feel evolked that sense, a thoughtful piece that makes you want to stay still, quiet, and observe.
